NOVAK DJOKOVIC MARKS CLAY COURT RETURN WITH COMMANDING VICTORY AT MONTE CARLO MASTERS

Serb Tennis Legend Dominates in Second-Round Match

MONACO, April 11, 2023Novak Djokovic, the world’s top-ranked Tennis player, marked his return to the Clay Tennis court with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory over Roman Safiullin in the second round of the prestigious Monte Carlo Masters. The Serbian Tennis legend, who has won a record-breaking 23 Grand Slam titles, including last year’s French Open on the Clay surface, showcased his expertise and dominance on the slow, Clay Tennis courts.

Djokovic’s serve was impeccable throughout the match, as he never faced a single break point from his opponent. Although he was not entirely clinical, converting only 5 of the 19 break points he earned, Djokovic’s overall performance was a testament to his Clay Tennis prowess. The victory marks Djokovic’s first Clay Tennis tournament appearance since his French Open triumph last year.

“My Clay Tennis game is in good shape, and I’m feeling confident on this surface,” said Djokovic after the match.

The top-seeded Serb is seeking his first title of the 2024 season, having recently parted ways with his long-time coach, Goran Ivanisevic. Djokovic’s next opponent will be either Frenchman Arthur Fils or Italian Lorenzo Musetti, as he aims to win the Monte Carlo Masters for the third time, having last achieved the feat in 2015.
