Canberra to Host Australia’s Top Junior Tennis Talents

The nation’s premier young tennis stars will converge in Canberra this week for the highly anticipated 2024 12/u and 14/u Australian Clay Court Championships. From Tuesday, April 16 to Sunday, April 21, a total of 128 junior players will take the courts at the Canberra Tennis Centre, showcasing their skills in the 12-and-under and 14-and-under national title events.

Leading the local contingent will be Tommy Camus of the Australian Capital Territory, who will enter the 12-and-under boys’ draw as the top seed. Meanwhile, Victoria’s Ana Maric will spearhead the 12-and-under girls’ event. In the 14-and-under category, New South Wales’ Brooke Komorowski and Ethan Domingo will be the respective top seeds for the girls’ and boys’ competitions.

“We are delighted to host 128 of the best junior players from across the nation, plus their families, coaches, support teams and officials this week,” said Tennis ACT CEO Mark La Brooy. “It’s a great event not only for locals, but for everyone who travels to the event and can experience all that Canberra has to offer.”

The tournament will be broadcast live, with matches from the show court streamed exclusively on KommunityTV for five days, and two courts to be streamed on finals day.

“Following the success of the 12/u and 14/u Australian Grasscourt Championships live stream in January, we are excited to once again partner with the team at KommunityTV to exclusively live stream the action from Canberra,” said Tennis Australia Head of Competitive Play and Professional Events Francis Soyer.

The 12/u and 14/u Australian Clay Court Championships boast a rich history of producing future stars of Australian tennis, with champions like Nick Kyrgios, Ash Barty, Marc Polmans and Jamie Fourlis having emerged from these national title events. Locals and tennis enthusiasts alike are encouraged to attend the free event and witness the rising talents in action.
